About Gaugeworks

The originating company for GAUGE WORKS was BEALE INSTRUMENTS who began operation in 1974 in South Australia and whose original success was due to the trucking companies need to help their drivers adhere to the laws relative to their driving habits. Because the government was policing the driving behavior of the commercial drivers more carefully there was an increased need for tachographs and road speed limiters to automatically record the speed and distance of the individual driver to assure that they were taking the appropriate breaks and getting enough rest between shifts and not speeding. In 1994 the company changed names and additionally became service agents for VDO, Smiths, Spitfire and AUTOMETER Gauges, another boon to business and then finally the company name was changed to the today’s recognizable GAUGE WORKS.
