The Spohn manual rack kit will work with your factory k-member, Spohn tubular k-member with manual rack mount or other aftermarket tubular k-members with stock style or pinto rack mounts installed. Replace the factory’s very heavy power steering rack and pump and shed some serious weight off the front of your car. Our manual pinto style rack has a more aggressive gearbox and will take less effort to turn compared to a factory rack with the power assist disconnected.

Our pinto rack features over-sized rod ends for the input shaft and a chromed center tube for a trick appearance. Unlike many other manual rack kits on the market, our tie rod end to spindle adapters do not require you to drill out your spindle hole. Our tie rod end to spindle adapters are CNC machined from 4140 chrome moly and are machined to be a direct bolt on to the GM spindle taper. In addition, they are also on the car bump-steer adjustable. The tie rod to spindle adapters are fully threaded with double locking jam nuts for easy up-down adjustment that eliminates the need for spacers. Our tie rod end set-up features 5/8” chrome moly Teflon lined rod ends with 5/8” chrome moly safety washers top and bottom for adequate articulation and safety. We use TIG welded tie rod adjusters with 4130 chrome moly threaded tube ends for the ultimate in strength and durability.

Our manual rack kit includes the complete steering shaft assembly. Our steering shaft features Flaming River chrome moly low profile needle bearing u-joints that have a reduced diameter for more clearance and reduced weight and they do not require lubrication. Combined with a ¾” D-D steering shaft, our steering shaft assembly provides for a substantial weight decrease over the stock steering shaft and much more header/turbo clearance. Finally, our steering shaft assembly is TIG welded so you have no worries about set screw connections coming loose.

Our manual rack kit is available in four different versions, and for two different platforms. In the option boxes you will need to specify if it will be installed on a 1993-1997 or a 1998-2002 GM F-Body so you get the proper steering shaft assembly. The rack kit is available for installation on to four different k-member set-ups.

    1. Factory K-member (notching and welding required)
    2. Spohn Performance tubular k-member with Part #704-MRM manual rack mount installed.
    3. Any other aftermarket k-member with pinto rack mounts installed. This kit will come with a polyurethane rack mount bushing and mounting hardware (not the welded tubes for mounting to stock-style rack mounts).
    4. Any other aftermarket k-member with stock rack mounts installed. (welding required)

NOTE: For installation on the factory k-member (#1 above) you will need to slightly extend the rack clearance notch in the factory k-member and weld on the supplied rack mounting plate and gusset (see pics). For installation on an aftermarket tubular k-member (other than a Spohn) with stock style rack mounts (#4 above) you will need to weld on the supplied rack mounting plate and gusset (see installed pics on Spohn k-member, you will need to install that mount on to your tubular k-member).

    Fits Camaro and Firebird Models.

Spohn Tubular Tunnel Brace 1993-02 Camaro V8
5 Stars Spohn Tunnel Brace , Date: 4/25/2012

    Ownership: 1 day - 1 week

The stock tunnel brace on my Camaro was a joke. Was just a thin piece of stamped steel you can actually bend with your hand. The Spohn tunnel brace really stiffened up the chassis by itself and stopped the majority of "wiggles" associated with convertibles (before I installed the sub-frame connectors which ended all "wiggles"). I recommend this product.

    Current Mods:
UMI 3-point sub-frame connector (convertible), Spohn tunnel brace, Spohn strut tower bar

Spohn Adj. Torque Arm - Trans. Mounted 1993-02 Camaro V8
4 Stars torque arm, Date: 10/15/2010

    By: jksz28
    Ownership: 1 week - 1 month

This torque arm is far better then the stock arm. I had to replace the stock because it cracked and bent. When getting this spohn arm you can clearly tell why it's so much better then the stock one. Even if your car is stock its far to dangerous to run with the factory torque arm. In fact I'd say its life threatening. Oh! and I did notice an improvement in cornering.

    Current Mods:
magnaflow catback exhaust, pacesetter LT headers with y-pipe, slp cold intake, spohn adj torque arm

Spohn Adj Torque Arm Poly Bushing Mount TH400 Trans. Retrofit (short tail) 1982-92 Camaro V8

I really love how easy this x-member went in and bolted to the car. The adj t/a makes pre-load a snap. The whole set up just looks sexy sittin' under there in black. The only thing I might change is the fact that there is no way to get a socket on the bolts for the trans mount to bolt it to the tailshaft, a challenge to get a wrench on it. The access holes have to be drilled out big enough to get a socket on them. Please let me know if there is a different way. I will definitely be buying more Spohn products for this dirty bird. Sub frame connectors are next. Need a good sized decal to put on the car also. (Wink Wink)

    Current Mods:
496 Hp/542lb-ft 383, Wilsons Transmissions TH400 w/ rev valve body, killer shift kit (snap ur head off & put in the back seat w/a smile u cant chissel off) & a Wilson's 10" 3500 stall. MSD Digital 6+ box. Spohn trans mount w/adj t/a. Heddman full tube headers, 3" pipe to Super 44's dumped @ the rear floor pan. '88 IROC rear end w/ disc brakes, True-Trac Posi, Richmond 4.10's. Six point cage.
