The control arm bushings found in the F-Body automobiles can have a significant impact on the vehicle’s ride, comfort, handling, acceleration, noise and vibration. When the car leans (i.e., rolls) in a turn, one side of the chassis moves upward relative to the rear axle, the other side moves downward, and the control arms must twist to allow for the axle to articulate. This causes the control arm bushings to bind. If this bind becomes excessive, it will raise the rear wheel rate and produce sudden, uncontrolled, undesirable changes in handling (e.g., snap oversteer).

Chevrolet minimizes this suspension bind by using compliant rubber bushings in both lower control arms. These relatively soft bushings help accommodate the necessary motion of the control arms during body roll. However, the rubber bushings do not provide much in the way of forward and aft support, which can cause wheel hop during hard acceleration and braking.

It has become common practice to replace the stock rubber control arm bushings with solid or two piece polyurethane bushings to resolve the shortcomings of the soft rubber bushings. Hard polyurethane bushings eliminate wheel hop, reduce axle deflection, and improve rear straight line grip. However, the downside of common aftermarket bushings such as delrin, steel, stiffer rubber, solid or two piece polyurethane bushings is they prevent the necessary movement of the control arms during body roll, which in turn produces significant binding in the suspension when the vehicle is cornering. The polyurethane bushings also place unnecessary high stresses on the torque boxes, which are the attachment points for the control arms to the chassis. Standard aftermarket control arms do not allow for rotation of the control arm during cornering because of the stiffness of the bushings.

The Solution:

We at J&M Products designed and built a tubular lower control arm which will eliminate the unwanted uncontrolled control arm flex. Round tubing is harder to work with but has many other advantages over square or rectangular tubing. It is stronger in bending, torsion, and also lighter than square or rectangular tubing.

We then solved the shortcomings of the factory rubber and other aftermarket polyurethane and stiffer rubber bushings. This was accomplished this with our Patent Pending 3 piece Poly-Ball bushing combination. By spending countless hours looking and dissecting the geometry and the need of the rear suspension we come out with bind-free bushings set up. Our Patent Pending Poly-Ball bushing combination incorporates a very hard inner polyurethane ball which is surrounded by soft socket outer cups. This combination allows the bushing to articulate like a spherical bearing during cornering but the hard inner ball does not allow the bushing to deflect during acceleration giving you great traction during acceleration like solid bushings but remains completely bind free like a spherical bearing during cornering for great predictable traction in the corners.

After installing noticed a lot of pops and creaks coming from the rear end. Thought it was about to fall off! Checked 3 times, re-greased and still very noisy. That said, the grip and straight line running is incredible. I used to nearly jump into the lane next to me and spin tires through the quarter mile but now just go straight and fast. I've got 680 HP and the stock LCAs were worthless under power. Would give 5 stars if they were more quiet.

I purchased my J&M LCA's over a year ago and have had good results from them. Much better than standard poly bushings that bind under hard cornering. They are easy to install,are noise free and do not require greasing. A good addition to any suspension package.

J&M totally eliminates hop, no clunking noise when going thru the gears. LMPerformance packed my LCA's and Upper with all the parts in zip locks and plenty of paper. Perfect wrap LMP! Illustrated instructions (color),these people are awesome. Guys, there are other LCA and Uppers that are good, but J&M has created a special patent here! Cornering harder with no binding, launching with no hop or clunking. All parts contained. I am ready to take on Porsche in any slalom course. Ferraris watch out too! Go J&M and especially LMPerformance.!

Everything bolted up as advertised.. put OEM '04 Z06 Calipers pads on brembo slotted rotors w/ stainless lines inside of the factory ZR1 17" rim. Followed breakin instructions on the rotors and pads. I ve had them installed for about 4,000 miles. Would have done this upgrade years ago if I knew the what the difference would be.

I put a J&M Products Pan-hard Bar, LCAs and Brackets on my '97 WS6 Formula. When they arrived I was totally impressed with the over all quality, appearance and the mass of the center tube on the LCAs and PHB. The simplicity to adjust the PHB is magnificent, my car sits over the rear end within .010 L:R. The difference in the way my car handles with them is like night:day. I had these on my 06 GT and noticed a huge improvemnet over the stock lines. This is the best upgrade you could do besides larger calipers. Dont waste time do these lines and never worry about stoping again.

another great product from J&M. they fit great, look awesome, perform very well, and the best part is they're cheap! i installed these with the j&m relocation brackets and knocked .2 seconds off the 60' times! for $210 for the arms and brackets, you cant beat them! they are kind of a pain to grease, but not too bad. i defenatly recomend these!

I was very happy with the quality of this part. It fit perfect and went on in about 20 minutes. The only problem I had was that I needed to go buy washers to go under the nuts because the slots are pretty big. Other than that there was no fitment issues at all. You will definately see an improvement in your front end after this mod is performed. It reduced almost all of my annoying sqeaks and rattles from the dash and front end area, as well as tightened up the stability when making high speed and/or very sharp turns. I will be making other purchases from this manufacturer now that I have seen what good quality parts they offer. Don't let the price fool you this is a good quality part that runs with the more pricey names.
